McGinty, Sr., Held Here (From the September 2, 1948 Winn Parish Enterprise) Mrs. Cyrus McGinty, 81, of Winnfield, died in a Shreveport hospital Friday, August 26, 1948, following a short illness. A native of Georgiana, Ala., "Miss Kate" had lived most of her life in Winnfield. She was the widow of the late Cyrus McGinty, Sr., who served Winn Parish as clerk of court and deputy clerk of court for many years before his death in 1946. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p. m. at Hixon Funeral Home with Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were John Campbell, Allen Campbell, A. C. Campbell, N. C. Woody, Dr. R. C. Murphy, and Jimmy Cookston. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. R. C. Murphy, Mrs. A. C. Campbell, Mrs. N. C. Woody, all of Shreveport, and Mrs. T. H. Fortner of Dallas; one son, C. McGinty, Jr., of Lake Charles. (Submitted by Greggory Ellis Davies, Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.)
