All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. McGinty Dies At Alexandria After A Ten Day Illness Survived by Cyrus McGinty, Winnfield, Hershel McGinty, Alexandria Mrs. Mary Catherine McGinty, 89, the mother of Cyrus McGinty, Sr., died at the home of her youngest living son, Hershel McGinty, at Alexandria, Thursday, January 16, after an illness of ten days. Prior to her marriage to late E. K. McGinty, she was Miss Mary Catherine Stinson. She was born in Alabama, April 12, 1841, and moved to Louisiana at an early age, where she has since resided. Of six children, only two are living, Cyrus McGinty, Sr., of Winnfield, and Hershel McGinty of Alexandria. She is survived by her two sons, seventeen grandchildren, and thirty great grandchildren. Mrs. McGinty was for many years a member of the Baptist Church, and lived a devoted Christian life. Funeral services were held at Jonesboro Friday afternoon by Rev. Dr. Brooks of the Jonesboro Baptist Church. Mrs. McGinty leaves many relatives and friends who mourn her departure.
