McIlhinny, mother of Mrs. Alwin Stokes, died at the Baptist Hospital in New Orleans August 4. Rev. Stokes and son George left Tuesday morning for Forest, Miss., where funeral services were held. Mrs. McIlhinny is survived by two sons, George and Oliver, one daughter, Elizabeth (Mrs. Alwin Stokes), and her hu8sband, Dr. George McIlhinny. ========== Submitter: Greggory E. Davies Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winn News American January 6, 1939 Funeral Services For Mrs. A. Stokes' Father on Sunday Dr. George A. McIlhenny Dies Following Brief Illness Dr. George A. McIlhenny, father of Mrs. Alwin Stokes, died at Morton, Miss., last Saturday following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Forest, Miss., at two o'clock, which were attended by Rev. Alwin Stokes, Mrs. Stokes on account of illness having to remain at home. Dr. McIlhenny has visited Winnfield frequently and his many friends here will mourn his passing. Dr. McIlhenny was a dentist by profession and was active in the religious and civic life of his community and state. He was an officer in the Presbyterian Church where he held membership and served several terms in the Mississippi state legislature. Among his lifelong ambitions and which he advocated and worked for was the establishing of a hospital school for crippled children. He never realized his dream but perhaps his planting the seed idea that it will some day be realized. He was preceded in death by his wife several years ago. Davies Source: Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Date: 20 Jun 2004 February 18, 1976 Rites For Mrs. McIlwain Held Tuesday Mrs. Joanna K. McIlwain, 89, of Dry Prong, died Monday, February 16, 1976. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hargis Baptist Church near Montgomery with the Rev. Roy Moore and the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, George McIlwain, five sons, Murrell McIlwain of Atlanta, G. W. Davies Date: 20 June 2004 Source: Winnfield News-American February 18, 1938 Miss L. McKeithen Dies At Clinic In Olla On Tuesday Miss Lee McKeithen, of Rochelle, niece of Mrs. E. J. Byrnes, died at an Olla clinic Tuesday morning. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Pollock with the Rev. J. O. Fogleman officiating and interment followed in the Pollock Cemetery. The deceases was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. McKeithen of Rochelle. The family formerly lived at Selma. Miss McKeithen was well known to a host of friends in Winnfield, for on numerous occasions she visited her aunt, Mrs. E. J. Byrnes and daughter, Mrs. Alma Trahan. =====
