Champ C. Martin, 64, of Holden, former pastor at Laurel Heights Baptist Church here, died Wednesday, August 7, 1974 at his residence. He had retired form the ministry having pastored churches in Buras, Alexandria, West Monroe, and in Holden. He pastored the Laurel Heights church here for 14 years and had also served four years on the Southern Baptist Executive Board committee. Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holden Baptist Church. Servides were also held at Laurel Heights Baptist Church here at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Rev. Charles Haley, Rev. Grant Clark, Rev. John Strom, Rev. J. A. Ailen speaking. Interment was in Garden of Memories. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lorena Coleman Martin of Holden; a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Lashley of Winnfield; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Bryant; six sisters, Mrs. Vester Crawley of Picayune, Miss., Mrs. Ester Hertzog of Gulfport, Miss., Miss Villa Martin of Columbia, Miss., Mrs. Cora Connerly of Fox worth, Miss., Mrs. Deckie Wren of Leland, Miss., and Mrs. Agnes Hester of Jackson, Miss.; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers included Rev. Mackie Bright, Rev. C. W. Jones, Bill Edmonds, R. M. Thompson, Clifford Crone, and Chester Hemperley. Honorary pallbearers were Elmo Frazier and the deacons of Laurel Heights Baptist Church.
