E. McIlwain, 95, Succumbs; Rites At Hargis Funeral services for George E. McIlwain, 95, of Dry Prong, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Hargis Baptist Church of Verda, with the Rev. Roy Moore officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tom Smith. Burial was in the Hargis church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. He died Wednesday, June 8, 1977 in a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. McIlwain was a native of Winn Parish, a retired farmer, and a charter member of Hargis Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Murrel McIlwain of Atlanta, G. W. McIlwain of Columbia, Gilbert McIlwain of Westlake, Gene McIlwain and Clifford McIlwain, both of Montgomery; five daughters, Mrs. Melba Royal of Many, Mrs. Audrey Howell of Natchitoches, Mrs. Laura Royal of Florien, Mrs. Mildred Futrell of Dry Prong, and Mrs. Corene Ortego of Lake Charles; three brothers, Carl McIlwain of Farmerville, Rufus McIlwain of Jena, and Weaver McIlwain of Carthage, Tex.; 25 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
