Elias McCarty Of Sikes Dies; Services Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday for John Elias McCarty, 76 year old retired
Sikes farmer who died in a Shreveport hospital early Monday.

He had been hospitalized several times in the past year after suffering a
heart attack.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie McCarty of Sikes, two sons, Dr. Emil
McCarty, Ringgold teacher, Rush E. McCarty, of Shreveport; two brothers, R. E.
McCarty of West Monroe, and W. H. McCarty of Sikes; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lucas
of Iowa, La.

Services were in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with the Rev.
Bernice Dyess, former Hurricane Grove Baptist Church pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the Hurricane Grove Cemetery.

Stanley Smith, I. L. McCarty, Jim Sanders, O. N. Simmons, D. W. McCarty, and
Clomer Lucas served as pallbearers.
