All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 24, 1957 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites At Beech Creek For Accident Victim Albert Guy McKeithen, 53 year old Urania truck driver was crushed to death shortly after noon Monday when his loaded log truck plunged into a ditch on the Olla-Sikes road near Olla and more than 2,000 feet of logs lunged forward against the cab of the truck. State police said he died of a broken neck, multiple skull fractures and a crushed chest. Archie Baum, 23, of Olla, received back injuries in the accident. He was driving an empty vehicle. As the two approached a bridge, police said Baum applied his brakes to avoid meeting the loaded truck on the bridge and the trailer of his truck jackknifed, blocking, blocking the approach to the bridge. McKeithen's truck smashed into Baum's vehicle, bounced off, the plunged down an embankment. Funeral services were held at Urania with burial following in the Beech Creek Cemetery, Winn Parish. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie McKeithen; two daughters and one son; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. McKeithen of Urania; three brothers, Lavelle of Buckeye; Togo of Summerfield; and Archie of Merchant Marines.
