A. McKinney Final Rites Held Here August 31 Mrs. T. A. McKinney, 72, of Winnfield, died in a local hospital at 2:45 p.m. Friday, August 31, after an extended illness. She was the former Ella Peevy, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. J. Peavy, descendants of pioneer families of Jackson Parish. Mrs. McKinney was educated in the public schools of Jackson Parish and continued her education at Louisiana College. She taught school for the Jackson Parish school system before her marriage to Thomas Alexander McKinney on December 22, 1912. Before her illness she was an active member of the First Baptist church and its organizations. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 1. Officiating was her pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomb, who was assisted by Mr. Eugene F. Love. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. The following nephews served as pallbearers: Dr. Walter Peevy, Baton Rouge, Fred A Peevy, Pineville, Charles W. and Edgar Nesbit, W. Alfred and Edward Peevy, all of Jonesboro. Surviving are her husband, one son, Herman C. McKinney of Baton Rouge; a daugher, Mrs. Lucille Hammons of Winnfield; one granddaughter, Diane McKinney Gorham of Baton Rouge; one grandson, Roger A. McKinney of Baton Rouge; two great grandsons, Larry Gorham Jr. and Scott Gorham of Baton Rouge; one brother, Willie M. Peevy of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Peevy, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Peevy, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Peevy, Mrs. Shelby Peevy, Mrs. Keith Tankersley, C. W. and W. E. Nesbit, Mr. and Mrs. Roy West, Mrs. Evelyn Caraway, O. W. Maxwell, and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Chandler of Jonesboro; Mrs. Larrie Rushing of Wyatt; Aubrey and Fletcher Davis of Heflin; Mrs. Ernest Fuller of Sibley; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Smith, Mrs. O. E. Moore, and James E. Smith of Hall Summitt; Mr. and Mrs. John Schaughnessy of Shreveport; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Tyler and Nina of Denham Springs; Dr. Walter Peevy, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McKinney, Roger McKinney, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gorham of Baton Rouge; Mrs. Ila L.
