B. McKinney, well known Baptist Hymn writer and director of the Southern Baptist Convention religious music department, died Sunday afternoon of injuries received in a traffic accident. He was a brother of T. A. McKinney of Winnfield. Dr. McKinney had written and arranged several hundred hymns for churches throughout the South. Fifty one of his hymns are published in the widely used Broadman Hymnal, which he edited. He was a native of Webster Parish and was director of music and a deacon in the Nashville, Tenn., First Baptist Church at the time of his death. He was enroute from the Southern Baptist assembly in Ridgecrest, N. C., to Gatlinburg, Tenn., when the accident occurred. Survivors include his widow, of Nashville, two sons, several brothers, including T. A. McKinney of Winnfield, and a sister.
