J.W. MCLEAN SUCCUMBS HERE AT THE AGE OF 96 Mrs. Jennie Jackson McLean, 96, widow of the late J.W. McLean, died in a local hospital at 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 1966, after a long illness. She was a native of Winnfield, having been born in the vicinity of the Salt Mine, and was a descendant of the Teddlie family. In her early years she taught school in Winn and Grant Parishes and was married to J.W. McLean in 1903. They made their home near Goldonna until about 15 years ago when they moved to Laurel Heights to reside. He preceded her in death about eight years. Mrs. McLean was a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church and taught a Sunday School class until her age necessitated her retirement. She has been a resident of Autumn Leaves Nursing Home for the past four years. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J.H. Martin of Winnfield and Mrs. Ella Drummond, of Hodge, and a number of nieces and nephews. Last rites will be conducted at Laurel Heights Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. C.C. Martin officiating. Assisting will be Dr. W.L. Holcomb. Burial will follow in the Sanders Chapel Cemetery near Calvin. Pallbearers will be Charlie Loe, Cecil Maritn, Goodrich Kirkland, J.C. Jackson, Henry Clark, Mack Jackson, Edmond Jackson and C.A. Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Laurel Heights Brotherhood.
