E. McLaren of Atlanta, died at midnight Tuesday at the Mosley Clinic where she was taken Monday, February 7th. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at the Sardis Church and interment was made in the Sardis Cemetery. Rev. H. S. McLaren, uncle of the deceased, assisted by Rev. J. A. Jones, pastor of Mt. Zion Church, and Rev. J. B. Boyd, pastor of Five Forks Church, officiated. The pallbearers were six teachers, Miss Odell Durham, Miss Evelyn Miller, Miss Clara Nelson, Miss Dorcas Barrett, Mrs. M. H. McIlwain, and W. C. Sheffield. At the beginning of the service a group of grammar school pupils sang "Silent Night." The choir was composed of teachers and students of the school. Ruth, after suffering an attack of influenza, suddenly developed pneumonia and was taken to the Mosley clinic. Death came late Tuesday night. Surviving are her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McLaren; four sisters, Mrs. Rayford Fowler, Elvie, Hattie Lee, and Mary McLaren; three brothers, Iley of Lamesa, Texas, Pugh of Wheeling, and Drew of Springhill; a grandmother, Mrs. J. T. McLaren of Shreveport and several uncles and aunts.
