McLaren, Winn Native, Died June 1, in Arkansas James Drew McLaren, a native of Winn Parish, died June 1, at his home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, following a heart attack suffered on the same day. Mr. McLaren had for many years lived at Springhill, La., but had for the last two years resided at 719 West Barrague St., Pine Bluff. Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at 4:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Sprinhill. Rev. Ady J. Smith of Marlton, Ark., assisted by Rev. L. S. Walker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Springhill, and Rev. W. N> Pascal of Spring Branch Church, conducted the last rites. Burial was in Spring Branch Cemetery, near Springhill, Masonic rites and the American Legion services were rendered. Mr. McLaren was for many years owner and manager of gasoline service stations and auto parts, retailing. He was previously employed in the construction department of the International Paper Mill, Springhill. He also did engineering work for the mill. Two years ago he went to Pine Bluff to do engineering work for International's new paper mill there. He became ill several months ago. A veteran of World War II, Mr. McLaren was active in religious, civic, and local affairs. He was a Mason and a member of the American Legion. Born in Atlanta, La., on July 20, 1910, Mr. McLaren was 47 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Mitchell McLaren, formerly of the Wheeling community and now of Pine Bluff; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McLaren of Springhill; four sisters, Mrs. Bertie Mae Fowler, Seagrave, Texas; Mrs. Elvie Tisdale, Springhill; Mrs. Hattie Lee Thomas, Baton rouge; and Mrs. Mary Halterman, Springhill; two brothers, W. I. McLaren, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Pugh McLaren, a twin, of Montgomery.
