McMahan Friday, July 20 Last rites for Alexander McMahan, 79, who died at his home here Thursday, July 19, were held at the Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. Alwin Stokes, in charge. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Welby Willis, Gamble Carter, Jim Brister, J. G. Dickerson, Roddie Poole, and Hardy Smith, Jr. Mr. McMahan was born in Vermont September 28, 1866. He had been a resident of Winnfield for many years, having been employed by railroads before he retired. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Isla Lee Works, Winnfield, and Mrs. Pauline McConathy, Lake Charles; one son, Hubert McMahan, Stinson Field, San Antonio, Texas, and one step son, Archie Mason, Lake Charles.
