West Monroe,La 71292 From the News Star Monroe,La Mr Homer J McMurry Rocky Branch, La-Services for Mr Homer J McMurry age 89,of Rocky Branch, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 17,1997 at Rocky Branch Church of Christ with Bro. Jerry Lee and Bro. Stan Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Mr. McMurry died Sunday September 14,1997 as the result of smoke inhalation, due to the house fire at his residence. He was born and raised in Winnfield, La. The Rev McMurry and Clair Collins were his parents long time residents of Winnfield. He was a life long residence of Union Parish, member of Rocky Branch Church of Christ and a retired Captain with the Monroe Police Department, where he also sang with the Police Quartet. Mr. McMurry was preceded in death by his wife, Cassyle Howard McMurry, a daughter Julia Arnsdoff, and a son Homer McMurry Jr. Survivors include a daughter Yvonne McMurry Moseley of Rocky Branch, a brother Elmo McMurry of Tulsa Ok, a sister Lesie Mae Turner of Houston, Tx; two grandchildren Michael James Hardey and Mitchell James Hardey, both of West Monroe; twelve great grand children and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Johnny Howard, Vernon Hodge, Vance Sawyer, and Johnny Cascio.
