McCarty Dies Suddenly J. E. McCarty, age 72, died suddenly at his home in the Beech Creek Community Saturday afternoon. Mr. McCarty was seemingly enjoying the best of health, and at about four o'clock Saturday afternoon left the house go to some part of his farm to repair a fence. When night came and he failed to return, one of his sons, who lives near, went to look for him, and found him lying on the ground where he apparently had died an hour or two before from heart failure. Mr. McCarty was born September 24th, 1954 near Hickory Valley, La., and always lived near the community of which he was born. He attended the best schools of the country and for awhile taught in the schools of the parish. He married Miss Mary Johns, and she and four children survive him. They are J. M. McCarty, Haynesville, W. H. McCarty, Flat Creek, Mrs. C. N. Whitehead, Grayson, Mrs. Leon Niager, St. Louis, Mo. Also three sisters, Mrs. W. J. Sowers, Winnfield, Mrs. Mary Holmes, Harrisonburg, Mrs. Frank Corley, Oakdale, La., and 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral services were held at Beech Creek Church Sunday, afternoon, the Rev. C. B. Gates of Sikes, conducting the services. Interment was in the Beech Creek Cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends of Winnfield attended the funeral.
