McCarty Funeral services for Sherman H. "Mac" McCarty, 77, of Roanoke, La., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in Roanoke United Methodist Church. The Rev. Homer Bailes, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings under direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Mr. McCarty died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 1984 in a Lake Charles Hospital. He was a native of Winnfield and a 50 year resident of Roanoke. He retired in 1970 after 33 years as postmaster of the Roanoke Post Office. He was a charter member of the Roanoke Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Sutter McCarty; three sons, Edward McCarty of Houma, Howard "Knobby" McCarty of New Orleans, and Phillip McCarty of Morgan City; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Mayes and Mrs. Oma Pendarvis, both of Tullos; one brother, Wiston McCarty of Tullos; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Membership in the Beech Creek Baptist Church.
