McCartney Held Sept. 30 C. R. McCartney, 60, of Winn Parish, died at 8 p.m. Friday in an Alexandria hospital following a short illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Baptist Church with Kenneth Wall, pastor of East Winnfield Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. McCartney was a native of Winn Parish and an employee of the Winn Parish School Board as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church and of the Georgetown Masonic Lodge, and had been a Baptist minister for 40 years. Survivors include his widow; six sons, Charles, Thomas, and Alton of Winnfield, Lonnie of Long Beach, Calif., Donald of Bakersfield, Calif., and James of Albany; one daughter, Mrs. A. A. Nugent of Independence; four brothers, Julian of Winnfield, Odis of Pineville, David of Alexandria, I. J. of Rt. 1, Olla; his mother, Mrs. R. P. Smith of Sikes; and four grandchildren.
