Hugh McVay Is Reported Killed In Naval Action

Hugh McVay, son of Rev. and Mrs. G. A. McVay, of Pineville, former residents
of Winn Parish, was reported killed in action before his ship went down in the
Pacific Ocean, by a telegram from the War Department last Friday.  The youth
was 23 years old, a graduate of the Atlanta High School, having attended
that school a number of years when the family lived in the Wheeling and
Couley communities before moving to Pineville two years ago.

Hugh leaves two sisters and four brothers.  One sister, Mrs. Otis Garner, is
a resident of the Crews community of this parish.  A brother, Luke A. McVay,
resided at Montgomery until recently when he moved to Pineville.
