Alvin McCarty, 50, native of Sikes, died in a Rayville hospital Sunday, Feb. 8, after a short illness. He was vice president of the Coast Oil and Butane Company there. A graduate of the Sikes High School and of Louisiana Tech, Mr. McCarty had lived in Rayville for the past 15 years and was chairman of the board of trustees and on the official board of the Rayville Methodist Church. Last rites were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rayville Methodist Church with the Rev. W. D. Bodie officiating. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Maurine Stovall McCarty, a daughter, Charlotee, two sons, David and Danny, all of Rayville; his mother, Mrs. C. A. McCarty, two sisters, Mrs. Bertie Lawrence and Mrs. O. N. Simmons, all of Winnfield; and two brothers, Harvey and Horace, Shreveport.
