Melton Succumbs To Long Illness June 4 Mrs. Wright Melton, 60 years, 7 months and 29 days of age, passed away at a local clinic June 4, 1951, after an illness of approximately 10 years. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Jordan Hill Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Gilbert Mabry officiating. Burial was in Melton Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Rev. D. G. Boyett, Rev. Mike Long, Earl E. Long, Ode Smith, Marion Smith, and Jesse Wilder. A native of Claiborne Parish, Mrs. Melton was the former Miss Genia Eugene Johnson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Johnson, and was born October 5, 1890, near Sharon, La. She had been a resident of Winn Parish for the past 40 years and had married Mr. Melton 38 years ago, and they had made their home in the Melton Community since that time. She was a member of the Jordan Hill Pentecostal Church and of the Woodmen of the World organization. Surviving are her husband, Wright S. Melton of Route 2, Winnfield; three nephews, one of whom she and Mr. Melton reared, who is J. E. Melton, his wife, Margie, and their two children, Randy and Mike, of Winnfield; Louis Melton of Minden, and Morris Melton of Minden; three other nieces, Mrs. J. A. Stephens of Alexandria; Mrs. Violet Gates of Winnfield, and Mrs. Charles Duncan of Mississippi. Mrs. Melton is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. J. N. Sowers of Winnfield, Mrs. Eva Schufler, Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. B. T. Melton of Minden; three other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
