Melton, 38, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield with Rev. C. C. Martin in charge, assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb. Burial was in Garden of Memories Cemetery near Winnfield. Melton, an oil production employee of Humble Oil Co., died Thursday at Grand Isle after a brief illness. He was a native of Winn Parish and a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Edwina Melton of Winnfield; two sons, Donald Paul and Stephen David Melton of Winnfield; a daughter, Judith Kay Melton of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Sunshine Taylor, Mrs. Carolyn Slaton, both of Odessa, Texas; and Mrs. Mildred Gorham of Winnfield; and his mother, Mrs. Claude Melton of Winnfield. Pallbearers were cousins of the deceased who were Cecil Valentine, Drew Valentine, Muriel Valentine, Wilburn Garrett, James Tarver, and Rudolph Tarver.
