Melton of Winnfield, Route 1, were held at the First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Rev. Alwin Stokes officiated at the last rites. He was assisted by Rev. H. H. McBride, Rev. Fred S. Flurry, Rev. Larry Molane, and Rev. C. M. Robinson. Carolyn died at a local clinic about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 9, after a short illness. She underwent an appendectomy at the clinic about a week earlier and had been critically ill since that time. She was born in Winn Parish August 28, 1934, and had made her home here since that time. She was a tenth grade student in Winnfield High School and was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. Carolyn also was an active member of the Future Homemakers of America Organization. Surviving in addition to her parents are three brothers, Ernest H. Melton, James A. Melton, and A. Leonard Melton, all of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Warren Bagur of New Orleans; and two nephews, Ernest Henry Melton, Jr., and Albert Warren Bagur. Pallbearers were Curtis Warren, Bobby Gassiott, Bobby Bass, Bobby Dickerson, J. B. McCain, and Doddy Berry. They were Carolyn's schoolmates.
