Melton Held Mrs. Clara Melton, 68, lifelong resident of Winnfield, died in a local hospital Monday, April 8, 1968 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hixson Brothers Chapel in Winnfield with the Revs. W. R. Gage and Thomas Cox officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors include her husband, Lee J. Melton, Winnfield; two sons, Dr. Lee J. Melton, Jr., Baton Rouge and John D. Melton, Dallas, Texas; one brother, W. R. Cupp, Laurel, Miss.; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Jenkins, Winnfield, Mrs. Ethel Vastine, Baton Rouge, Mrs. Idell Jennings, Fresno, California, Mrs. Grace Burns, Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Dr. Ray Jenkins, Harper Terrill, Tracy Lee Harrel, E. G. Springfield, Dudley Shell, Jim Russell, Robert Baker, and Dennis Shell.
