Sunday Funeral services for aged Winn Parish Citizen at Tyson Cemetery. Mrs. Laura (Tyson) Melton, age about 79 years, died in a Vicksburg, Miss hospital at 3 pm. Monday of injuries received in an automobile collision Sunday afternoon while enroute from Packton to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby Sharpin, at Rolling Fork, Miss. Funeral services were held Thursday noon at the Tyson Cemetery near Packton. The accident is reported to have occurred on the Hwy near Vicksburg when the car in which Mrs. Melton was riding collided with another car. Mrs. Melton was thrown from the car receiving severe injuries. She was taken to the hospital in Vicksburg where she succumbed Monday. Mrs. Sharpin was not injured. Mrs. Mollie Stephens of Packton, whom Mother and sister had been visiting, went to her mother as soon after the accident as possible. Mrs. Melton was a widely known citizen of Winn Parish and has a large number of relatives and friends in this section. For the past several years, because of ill health, she has been making her home with her children. She was living with her daughter in Miss. at the time of the accident, and they were returning home after a visit with Mrs. Mollie Stevens at Packton. Surviving Mrs. Melton are three daughters: Mrs. Irby Sharpin, of Rolling Fork, Miss; Mrs. Kate Gilmore of Alpine, Texas; Mrs. Mollie Stevens, Packton; and two sons: Bud Melton and Walker Melton of Packton.
