Milam, 81, of Winnfield were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. A native of Claiborne Parish, Mrs. Milam was the widow of the late V. Matt Milam, Sr., and co-founder of W. M. Milam and Son, Inc., in which she participated until her retirement. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, the Garden Club, AARP, and Readers Review Club. Burial was in the Garden of Memories cemetery for Mrs. Milam who died Wednesday, January 4, 1978 at 3 p.m. in Winnfield General Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Survivors include one son, V. Matt Milam, Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. R. C. Byrnes; two brothers, Parker Thompson and Graydon Thompson; one sister, Esther Hutson; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Harper Terrill, Puckett Willis, Kermit Simmons, Dr. John R. McElwee, Kermit Simmons, Reggie Gates, Col. Donn Thompson, ret., Col. Charles Morn, ret., and Dr. Douglas Peterson.
