Milam, Sr., 78, Succumbs Friday, June 1 John B. Milam, Sr., 78, of Dodson, Route 2, who has been in ill health for several years, died Friday afternoon, June 1, at the clinic in Hodge, La. Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Gansville Baptist Church, with Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro, and Rev. Paul Hammons of Gansville, officiating. Interment was in the Gansville Cemetery. A life-long resident of Winn Parish, Mr. Milam was one of the most progressive farmers, cattle and timber dealers in this vicinity. He was a former merchant and sawmill owner, and, at one time, was president of the Winn Parish Police Jury. At the time of his death he was a member of the Gansville Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. The son of the late John T. Milam and Lizzie Wasson Milam, his birthplace was Dodson, La. On February 27, 1890, he married Miss Viola Stone. In 1892 he and his family moved to the old Tom Sims place, where they have made their home since that time. Surviving Mr. Milam are: his widow, Mrs. Viola Stone Milam of Gansville; two sons, J. B. Milam, Jr., of Ruston and O. G. Milam of Tullos; two daughters, Mrs. H. M. Gatlin and Mrs. L. L. Parker of Jonesboro. Active pallbearers were Hasson Morris, C. F. Walsworth, Matt Milam, Bryant Sholars, J. B. and A. L. Mixon. Honorary pallbearers were ____ Fain, J. H. Walker, B. M. Feazel, J. E.
