G. Milam Dead Died in this city at the residence of his son, T. G.Milam, on November 23, 1908, Mr. S. G. Milam, aged 74 years. The deceased was born in Alabama February 25, 1835, and came to Louisiana in 1858 and has resided in Winn Parish ever since. He was married to Miss Lelia K. Griffin of Winn, December 22n, 1859. When the call to arms aroused the Southern people in 1861, he responded and was enrolled in Company K, 28th Louisiana Infantry. He served with the regiment during the war. After the close of the war he returned to take up the pursuits of peace, and spent an active life in caring for his family. He leaves two sons and a married daughter, besides other relatives to mourn his death at a ripe old age. Mr. S. G. Milam was numbered among the substantial and useful citizens of Winn. He possessed those sterling traits of head an heart that leave their impression on those with whom he was associated. Called away after a life devoted to the betterment of his fellowmen, his death is deeply regretted by this community, and a sincere sympathy is expressed for his bereaved family. The funeral took place at the home of his son, Mr. T. G. Milam, on Tuesday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. Geo. A. Kelly. The remains were interred in the family burial ground, 4 miles west of Winnfield, and were followed by a large number of the friends of the family.
