All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 5, 1958 Colfax Chronicle Verda High School Senior Boy Dies Suddenly Sunday Morning Billy Wayne Miller, seventeen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Huey Miller of Route 1, Montgomery, died suddenly Sunday morning, Nov. 30, from a heart condition. He was a member of the Verda High School and was scheduled to graduate at the end of the present term. In memory of Billy, the class bought a special wreath for the grave. School was dismissed that day so that his many classmates and friends might attend the services. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. from the Mars Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Yocum, pastor, and the Rev. B. L. Brister, pastor of the Verda Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Mars Hill Cemetery. Eugene Fletcher, Donald Thompson, Bobby Deen, Walter Wayne Lashley, Raymond Lemoine, Frank LeBarron, Ronnie Lashley, and Raymond Vercher, his classmates, were the pallbearers. Special song services for the funeral were provided by the schoolmates. Survivors other than his parents include one brother, Layne; two sisters, Aniece and Patrician Ann of Montgomery, his grandfather, J. P. Miller of Route 1, Montgomery, and two great grandmothers, Mrs. Ollie McManus of Shreveport and Mrs. Hettie Box of Rt. 1, Montgomery.
