Miller, 49, Held Here Sunday C. E. Miller, employee of the Carey Salt Company, died at a local clinic early last Friday morning as a result of an attack of pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the Star Hotel, where he had made his home since coming to Winnfield, Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor of First Methodist Church, and Dr. B. C. Land, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Winnfield Cemetery. The deceased was about 49 years of age, a single man, who came here in January 1931. Soon after his arrival he was employed at the salt mine then under construction and later served as fireman for that company. An examination of the personal effects of the dead man revealed that he was born at Clarksburg, Va., and was a Knights Templar. Telegrams were sent to a number of persons in fraternal circles and otherwise but no information was received that led to the locating of any relatives. The body was held until Sunday morning in the parlors of the Winnfield Funeral Home from where it was taken to his hotel home for the last rites and ceremonies.
