Miller of Haynesville Is Buried Here Oil Man, Native of Winn Parish, Succumbs Dec. 18th Funeral services for Richard P. Miller, 48, prominent oil operator of Haynesville, and former resident of Winnfield, were held at Haynesville, Saturday morning, December 20, 1941, and interment was made in the Winnfield Cemetery with short services at the grave. Mr. Miller died Thursday night at 3:30 o'clock. He was the sole remaining member of the firm of Bourn & Miller, his former partner, W. T. Bourn, having died a year ago. Mr. Miller is survived by his widow, the former Miss Eula May Welch; one daughter, Miss Josephine Miller, a senior at Louisiana State University; his mother, Mrs. E. R. Miller of Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Mayer of Chicago, Mrs. John Porter and Mrs. Katherine Parsons of Winnfield. Mr. Miller was area commander of the American Legion; was a lieutenant in the first World War, entering service from Winnfield; was a past commander of Waller-Bond post of the Legion in Haynesville; a member of the Masonic bodies, O. E. S., and El Karubah Shrine at Shreveport; chairman of the advisory board of Claiborne Parish and district chairman of defense activities.
