G. Milam Dead T. G. "Pick" Milam, age 61 years, died Friday, February 13th, in the Monroe Hospital at Monroe, La. Mr. Milam had been ill for a long time and confined to his bed several months before going to Monroe for treatment. Mr. Milam was born near Winnfield November 3rd, 1863. He was a son of the late S. G. and Leah Milam and is survived by a son, Dr. Drewett Milam of Monroe and three brothers and one sister, W. M. and John Milam of Winnfield, D. C. Milam of Cotton Valley, and Mrs. G. W. Lowe of Winnfield. January 23, 1873 he was married to Miss Belle Machen, daughter of Frank Machen and sister of Mrs. C. M. Swanson, who died December 4, 1904. When the railroads began building into Winnfield Mr. Milam moved from his home a few miles west of Winnfield and entered the mercantile business here, which he conducted successfully for several years. He later closed his mercantile establishment and entered the market business which he conducted until his health failed him two years ago. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church last Sunday at 10:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes. Burial took place at the Mathis-Teagle Cemetery three miles west of Winnfield, the Masons having charge of the burial services. Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Downs of Monroe; Mrs. Ella Machen of Sprinhill; Mrs. Heron Dickerson of El Dorado; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Milam, Sr., of Dodson, La.; Miss Ella Stone, Dodson; Mr. and Mrs. John Swanson, Dodson; Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Woods, Dodson.
