All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 17, 1944 Winn Parish Enterprise James Miller, 84, Former Mayor of Dodson, Dies James Miller, 84 years, 11 months, and 27 days of age, died at his home in Dodson February 15 as the result of an illness of several years. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the Dodson Baptist Church with Rev. J. W. Boatner of Jonesboro and Rev. J. O. Payne of Tullos officiating. Burial was in the Gansville Cemetery. Besides serving as mayor of the Town of Dodson at one time, Mr. Miller also operated a hardware business in Dodson until he lost his eyesight a number of years ago. His other activities included memberships to the Knights of Pythias, Odd Fellows, and Masonic Lodges. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Stinson Miller, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ruth Beck Payne, both of Dodson. Pallbearers were A. L. Mixon, L. L. Lee, L. J. Stovall, and Clayton Norred of Dodson, and A. A. Hammons of Ruston and Dewey Simmons of Monroe.
