All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 13, 1945 Winn Parish Enterprise Death of Mrs. Olive Gardner Mitchell Occurs December 7th Mrs. Olive Gardner Mitchell, age 86, passed peacefully from this life at her home in Wheeling Friday, Dec. 7, following a short illness. "Aunt Ollie," as she was known by to her many friends, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gardner in the state of South Carolina in 1859. When she was 13 years old she moved with her parents to Bienville Parish, Louisiana, and later to Winn Parish. After coming to Winn Parish she met Joe Mitchell and in 1883 they were married. She lived in Winn Parish from that time to her death. "Aunt Ollie" was well known throughout Wheeling and Winn Parish. Funeral services were conducted Saturday by Rev. Tilmon Brown, pastor of the Mt. Zion Church, assisted by Rev. Lula Wardlow of Montgomery. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The deceased is survived by three daughters, Miss Belle Mitchell, Mrs. Jodie Davison, Mrs. Melton Davison; one son, E. D. Mitchell, all of Wheeling; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
