All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: June 25, 1953 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Killed In Crash Bobby Mixon, (photo above), 22 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Mixon, of Winnfield, Route 2, was one of 129 American soldiers killed in a transport airplane crash in Japan last Thursday, June 18. Young Mixon had been on leave in Japan and war returning to his base in Sewan, near Seoul, Korea, when the crash occurred. He was a 1948 graduate of Winnfield High School, a member of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church, and a Woodman. He had been employed at Western Auto Store before his entry into service. Survivors are his parents, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Gorham, three sisters, and one brother. Burial rites will be held in the Gorham Cemetery near Joyce as soon as transfer of the remains can be made.
