Mr. W. R. Mixon, "Uncle Weston" he was lovingly called by a number of his friends, passed from life unto death November 11, 1933. He was born December 24, 1859 in Natchitoches Parish. He was joined in holy matrimony to Margaret Jane Sanders July 6, 1876, who preceded him in death thirteen years. He was converted when but a young man, uniting with the Methodist Church, of which he became a devout member. He lived a beautiful Christian life until the day of his death. His was a life that adorned the Gospel of Christ. The earth is richer because he passed this way. His family, friends, church, and community rise up to call him blessed. There was a radiant light that shone out from his beautiful life of Christian service that helped many weary pilgrims on their way heavenward. No doubt there will be many in the glory world on account of his efforts and many battles fought out on this knees. He is rewarded by being with Jesus in a land where sorrow never comes. He will be sadly missed in Sunday school and church where he so faithfully attended and loved holding for years the positions of superintendent and elder of the Sanders Chapel Church. He was always to be found on a front seat at church. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Frank P. Moss, pastor of his church, by his request. The church was filled to capacity thus indicating the influence of godly life. Interment was made in Sanders Cemetery and he was laid to rest Sunday morning by his beloved wife. There were many beautiful floral tributes which were appreciated because he was a lover of flowers. He leaves behind four daughters and four sons: Mrs. C. D. Golden, of Jonesboro; Mrs. W. S. Carter of Calvin; Mrs. F. O. Lattier of Winnfield; Mrs. T. M. Carson of Shady Grove; and Lee Mixon of Winnsboro; Emmitt Mixon of Bastrop; Jepp and Hardy Mixon of Goldonna; forty seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his going. "How glorious such a life, how triumphant such a death. He has fought the good fight, he has finished his course he has kept the faith and gone to his reward. Pray for us that we may be an unbroken circle in heaven." Signed, His loving granddaughter, Leo Velma Sanders
