Mrs. Elmer Mixon, wife of the late Emmet Mixon, formerly of Winn Parish, passed away Thursday, August 6, at 2:45 p.m. in St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. Mrs. Mixon was ill only two days and death came unexpectedly at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 27 days. The funeral services were held at the Sanders Methodist Church near Calvin Saturday morning at 11:30, August 8, with the pastor, Rev. James Key of the English Bayou Assembly of God Church, Lake Charles, of which Mrs. Mixon was a member, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Hixsons Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Pallbearers were R. C. Mixon of Lake Charles, Tommie Cloud of Winnfield, Billy James of Rt. 1, Dodson, J. C. Cloud of Rt. 3, Winnfield, Edmond Carter of Rt. 3, Winnfield, and Charlie Carter of Calvin. Those who were left to mourn her departure were four children, Mr. Emmitt E. Mixon, Jr., of Lake Charles, Mrs. Julian (Chlorene) Craig of Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Hay (Lessie) Hall of Egan, La., andMrs. Clifford (Helen) Trovard of Lake Charles, 12 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Parliee (Pauline) Henry, of Bastorp, and a host of relatives and friends.
