Mixon (Winn Parish Enterprise, April 19, 1951) Jesse J. Mixon, 77, prominent Winn Parish educator, died at 2 p. m. April 14 at his home in Natchitoches after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. April 15 at the Natchitoches First Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Wheeler and the Rev. D. W. Poole officiating. Burial was in the Fern Park Cemetery. During his long career as educator, Mixon served as principal of Winnfield High School, Superintendent of Winn Parish schools, and Superintendent of Louisiana Training Institute for Boys at Monroe. He also had been warden of the Angola State Prison, Superintendent of Northwest Louisiana Fish and Game Preserve, and state agricultural extension agent. Prior to his death he was conducting courses for veterans at the Natchitoches and Robeline High Schools. He was a deacon of Natchitoches First Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. J. J. Mixon of Natchitoches, two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Hankins of Natchitoches and Mrs. P. H. Abat of Longview, Texas; one brother, R. L. Mixon of Atlanta; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
