All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: July 7, 1932 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Alma Melton Succumbs After Long Illness Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon With Interment In Melton Cemetery Mrs. Alma Melton, age 66 years, died at her home south of Winnfield, after several months illness, on July 4th. Mrs. Melton was born in Jackson Parish. She was before her marriage Miss Alma Jordan and married Mr. Edgar Melton and at that time moved to this community. Funeral services were held at the Melton Cemetery July 5th at 2 p.m. with Rev. E. O. Hearn of Chatham and Rev. Alwin Stokes of Winnfield in charge. Mrs. Melton was the mother of then children, seven living, who are Mrs. P. C. Finley of Winnfield, Mrs. Edwin Long of El Dorado, Ark., J. C. Melton, L. H. Melton, J. M. Melton, Marvin and Sam Melton of Winnfield. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Rogers of Columbia, Mrs. Foster and Mrs. May of Chatham, Mrs. Campbell of Columbia and Mrs. Rogers of Cotton Plant. Two brothers who are W. W. Jordan of Marshall, Texas and J. C. Jordan of Monroe.
