Melton Held June 6 Funeral services for Mrs. Wright S. Melton, 60, of near Winnfield, a resident of Winn Parish for more than 40 years, were held at the Jordan Hill Pentecostal Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, with the Rev. Gilbert Mabry officiating. Interment was in the Melton Cemetery. Mrs. Melton, who had been in poor health for approximately 10 years passed away in a local hospital at 6:25 p.m. Monday, June 4. She was the former Miss Genia Eugene Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Johnson, and was born on October 5, 1890, near Sharon, La., in Claiborne Parish. She was married to Mr. Wright S. Melton 38 years ago and they made their home in Winn Parish since that time. Prior to her marriage she attended school in Winnfield. Mrs. Melton was a faithful member of Jordan Hill Pentecostal Church and also was a member of the Woodmen of the World organization. At the time of her death she was 60 years, seven months and 29 days of age. Mrs. Melton is survived by her husband, Wright S. Melton of Route 2, Winnfield; three sisters, Mrs. J. N. Sowers of Winnfield; Mrs. Eva Schufler of Dallas, Texas; and Mrs. B. T. Melton of Minden; three nephews, J. E. Melton of Winnfield, Louis Melton of Minden, and Morris Melton of Minden; four nieces, Mrs. Margie Melton, Winnfield, Mrs. J. A. Stephens, Alexandria, Mrs. Violet Gates of Winnfield, and Mrs. Charles Duncan of Mississippi, and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Rev. D. G. Boyett, Rev. Mike Long, Earl E. Long, Ode Smith, Marion Smith, and Jesse Wilder.
