Moffett Of Gansville Claimed By Death Jan. 28 Pneumonia Is Fatal To Farmer After Short Illness William Thurman Moffett, of Gansville, died at his home Friday, 2 p.m., January 26, 1940, after a short illness with influenza, which developed into double pneumonia. Mr. Moffett was born in Cass County, Texas, September 20, 1888, and moved to the Gansville Community with his parents in 1897. He was married to Miss Abbie Salley of Bloomburg, Texas, December 17, 1913. Moving back to Gansville in 1915, he lived there until his death. Funeral services were held in the Gansville Baptist Church, of which the deceased had been a member since the age of 18, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. R. B. Kitchingham of Gansville, Rev. A. J. Turner of Hodge, and Rev. Henry Keys of Atlanta, officiated. Interment was in the Gansville Cemetery under he direction of Southern Funeral Home. Surviving are his widow and four children, Arthur Lee Moffett and Mrs. Clifford Stinson of Ruston, Mrs. Hesley Taylor of Cypress Creek and Miss Annie Belle Moffett of Gansville; two grandchildren, Katie Lois Stinson and Garland Taylor; five brothers and one sister, Mrs. Luella Streebeck of Clarks, Elmer Moffett of Atlanta, Rube Moffett of Partols, New Mexico, Elijah Moffett of Jonesboro, Jim and Curtis Moffett of Gansville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
