Moore Shreveport, La - Graveside services for George A. Moore, 88, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2000 at Melton Cemetery, Winnfield, La. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, Saturday, October 14, 2000 at Rose - Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home. Mr. Moore died Friday, October 13, 2000 in Shreveport, La. He was a native of Packton, La and a resident of Shreveport, La since 1935. Mr. Moore was a retired welder for The Brewster Company. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include sons, Vernon Moore and Thermon Moore and wife Diane; daughters, Ama Sue Smith and Mary Latsos and husband, Richard; sisters, Theodus Lyles and Sarah Smart, all of Shreveport, La; brothers; Johnnie Moore of Winnfield, La and Herman Moore of Shreveport, La; grandchildren, Amy Lynn, Kellie, Duke, Renea, Valeria, Karen, Natalie, Ashley and Bailon; and great grandchildren, Austin, Craig, Adriana and Dalton. Pallbearers will be Duke Henry, Jade Smith, Jeffrey Fossman, Jason Scott, Austin Holt and Bailon Moore. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Blanchard Building Fund, P.O. Box 65, Blanchard, La 71009 Footnote Added by Submitter: George Armond Moore ( 9/27/1912 - 10/13/2000 ) was the son of George W. Moore ( 1/29/1878 - 1/31/1955 ) and Sarah Elizabeth Oliver Moore ( 8/25/1882 - 1/25/1973 ) and g/son of John D. Moore, Sr (12/14/1853 Ala - 12/09/1948 ) and Sarah Florence Melton Moore ( 1/01/1851 Ga - 1/13/1887 ). He was a gg/son of Madison McKinney Melton ( 11/08/1828 Ga - 4/16/1895 ) and Susan Carolyn Swain ( 11/17/1830 Ga - 8/25/1905 ), who moved to Winn Parish in 1858. All are buried at the Melton Cem except John D. Moore, Sr who is buried at Pleasant Hill (Killen) Cem. Preceded in death by brother, Thermon Matthew M. ( 10/27/1904 - 12/27/1918) and Vera Doretha M. Grimmett ( 12/10/1922 - 5/10/1997 ). Survived by brothers Johnnie Edgar M. ( 2/11/1906 ), Herman Washington M. (5/10/1919) and sisters Thedous Marie M. Lyles ( 9/26/1908 ) and Sara Vivian M. Smart ( 2/02/1924 ).
