Moss To Be Held Friday John Joseph Moss, 60, native and life long resident of Winn Parish, died of leukemia in the Veterans Hospital in New Orleans at 9 o'clock Wednesday night after an illness of approximately four years. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past two months. Funeral services will be held at the Laurel Heights Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, with the Rev. H. J. Mott officiating. Interment will be in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Military rites will be held at the grave under direction of Payne-Johnson Post 3800, Winn Parish Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Moss was a veteran of several months overseas service in the U. S. Army during World War I. He participated in the historic Battle of the Argonne Forest. A member of the Baptist church for many years, Mr. Moss had been affiliated with the Laurel Heights Baptist Church for the past four years. He was born in Winn Parish and was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Moss. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula English Moss of Greensburg, La.; one son, Bob Moss, instructor of civil aeronautics at Louisiana State University; three brothers, Judge Cas Moss and Alon A. Moss of Winnfield, and Herbert Moss of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Rubie Hanks of Winnfield; six nieces and nephews, seven great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
