E. Moss Dies Saturday Night At Her Home Here Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Moss, age 90, died at her home here Saturday night following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church here Sunday afternoon at three o'clock conducted by the Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and the Rev. H. B. Hysell, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Concluding rites were held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Columbia, La., where interment was made. The deceased was Miss Elizabeth Meredith before her marriage to Dr. Thomas A. Moss on February 15, 1870. Dr. Moss was a practicing physician of Columbia, where they resided. He preceded her in death in 1900, soon thereafter she with her children moved to Winnfield to make their home. Mrs. Moss was a member of the Baptist Church since early girlhood and has been a member of the local church for the past 41 years. She was a member of the Meredith family, one of the pioneer families of Caldwell Parish and northeast Louisiana. Surviving are four sons, Judge Cas Moss, judge of the Eighth Judicial District, A. A. Moss, attorney of Winnfield, Herbert Moss, sales manager of the Tremont Lumber Company, Rochelle, and Joe J. Moss, of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby M. Hanks, member of the Louisiana State University library staff, Baton Rouge; and one half-sister, Mrs. Lou Hayes of Simsboro. Pallbearers were Casimir D. Moss, Herbert Moss, Jr., Pat G. Harrell, C. E. Sherwood, P. Hugh Mercer, and Houston Gates.
