A. Moss Succumbs At His Home Here Aug. 31 Alon Arthur Moss, 78, retired attorney of Winnfield, died at his home at 9:50 Wednesday night, August 31. He had been in ill health for a long time, having retired from practice about six years ago. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Southern Funeral Home with Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. Waynon Mott officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Harry Fuller, Hiram Wright, Roy Cantwell, John J. Peters, Judge Jack Oglesby, and Judge Harwell Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Russell, P. K. Abel, Matt Milam, Sr., John Bell, and Robert Lee Dunn. Born and reared in Caldwell Parish, Mr. Moss had been a resident of Winnfield for 50 years. He studied law in the office of his brother, Judge Cas Moss, passed the state bar examination and practiced law here for 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife, one son, Tommy, and one daughter, Mrs. Pat Harrell, all of Winnfield; two brothers, Judge Cas Moss, Winnfield, and Herbert Moss, Shreveport; and one sister, Mrs. Ruby Hanks, Winnfield.
