All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 16, 1941 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Moss Succumbs Here Saturday Beloved Citizen Had Resided Here 41 Years Mrs. Eva Elizabeth Meredith Moss, widow of the late Dr. T. A. Moss, died at her home Saturday evening after having been ill for about a year. Funeral services were held at the Winnfield Baptist Church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon and at the Mt. Pleasant Church in Caldwell Parish at 4:30 the same afternoon with the Rev. H. H. McBride, assisted by Rev. H. B. Hysell and Rev. Alwin Stokes, conducting the rites. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mrs. Moss, who was born February 12, 1851 on the old Meredith homestead three miles west of Columbia, moved to Winnfield forty-one years ago after the death of her husband in April, 1920. She has resided here since that time. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church since early girlhood and when she moved to Winnfield had her membership transferred to the local church of which she was a member at the time of her death. Four sons, one daughter, and one sister survive. They are: Judge Cas Moss, Mr. J. J. Moss and Mr. A. A. Moss, of Winnfield; Mr. Herbert Moss, of Tremont; Mrs. Ruby Hanks of Baton Rouge; and her sister, Mrs. Lou Hayes of Simsboro. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers were P. Hugh Mercer, C. D. Moss, Herbert Moss, Jr., Pat Harrell, C. E. Sherwood, and Houston Gates.
