Mosley Today at 10:30 A.M. Funeral services for John H. Mosley, who died at his home here Tuesday night, were held this morning at 10:30 at the First Baptist church. Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor, conducted the rites followed by interment in the Winnfield Cemetery. The deceased had been in failing health for the past two years and at the time of his sudden death he was sitting in the living room of his home talking with his wife. Mr. Mosley, a retired civil engineer, came to Winnfield from his home in Ringgold more than fifty years ago. At that time he was one of the engineering party that surveyed and constructed the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway through central Louisiana. Later he was appointed engineer for a number of parishes in the area when the first road construction programs were inaugurated. After joining the engineering department for the Louisiana Highway Commission he did engineering work in many parts of the state. In this position he remained for more than twenty years, during which time he was chief engineer for the Airline Highway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He served two terms on the Board of Aldermen of Winnfield and during his term of office he was instrumental in making many of the town's early improvements. Immediate survivors are his widow, Mrs. Belle Wallace Mosley, one son, Dr. John T. Mosley, of Winnfield; and one sister, Miss Lizzie Mosley, Ringgold. Pallbearers included W.H. Peters, John G. Jackson, Eli Harrell, W. D. Montgomery, Casimir D. Moss, J. M. Jenkins, all of Winnfield, and Purcell Wallace, Shreveport, Lloyd Rau, New Orleans, Gordon Smith, Baton Rouge, and Don Russell of Minden. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J. W. Schonlau, Gill Smith, C. H. Collins, Clyde Swanson, Judge Cas Moss, Albert Smith, Sr., Herbert Tannehill, Ted Andrews, W. E. Heard, W. L. Horton, Bowman Wright, Henry W. Stinson, Richard Buckley, Dr. S. R. Jenkins, Dr. John R. McElwee, Dr. George Rodgers, Dr. Roland E. Schmidt, George Tannehill, S. E. Jenkins, George E. Wallace, J. L. Waters, W. J. Farber, O. T. White, Mack Locke, W. E. Mosley, Jack Wallace, and George Porter.
