Davies Source: Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Date: 20 Jun 2004 June 7, 1951 One Man Killed In Auto Collision Caused By Calf A calf crossing Tullos highway early this morning caused an auto collision which resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two other persons, according to a report from the Winn Parish Sheriff's department. The man was identified at C. F. Myers, of Washington State, who was on his way to Florida. His body is in Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield pending funeral arrangements. He lived alone and has no relatives here. Slightly injured were Lynn Steed, a Goodpine oil field worker, and his daughter Mary Lynn Steed, an employee of the Jena Times. They were on their way to Steed's brother's funeral in Texas, the Sheriff said. Myers died as a result of a severe blow in the chest, which broke several ribs. He also received a severe cut on the head and a broken leg. Lynn Steed and Mary Lynn Steed were treated for minor injuries and discharged from Winnfield General Hospital. The wreck occurred about 6 a.m. today (Thursday) when a calf ran into the road in front of Myers' car. He tried to dodge the calf and collided with the Steed car. Both vehicles were towed to Taylor Motor Company in Winnfield. ======
