Martin Held December 17 James H. Martin, 70 years, one month, and eleven days of age, died at his home here Saturday, December 16, 1944, following a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Sunday at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, in charge. Mr. F. L. Main rendered a special song, "God's Tomorrow." Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were M. C. Mann, Jack Wallace, W. H. Cameron, Lee Townsend, and John Steen. Mr. Martin was born November 5, 1874 in Alabama, and spent most of his lifetime in Natchitoches Parish, coming to Winnfield about a year and a half ago. He was a charter member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of Chestnut, La. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Fannie Wallace Martin, Winnfield; three sons, Andrew Martin, Winnfield; C. C. Martin, Crossett, Ark.; L. H. "Peck" Martin, Forest, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Cockfield and Mrs. A. L. Tracy, Winnfield; one grandson, James Ford, serving with the armed forces overseas; three granddaughters, Jerry Lynn Martin, Tappy Tracy, and Mrs. Evelyn Greer; one great grandson, Jimmy Greer; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Harper and Mrs. P. E. Weaver, and one brother, H. E. Trichel, all of Chestnut, La.
