All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: December 22, 1976 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Killed In Truck Wreck Funeral services were held Sunday for Bobby Glenn Murry, 32, of Joyce who was killed in a log truck accident Friday morning, December 17. According to state police reports, the log truck driven by Murry was traveling south on La. 34, about three miles south of Chatham. The left front tire apparently blew out as the truck was descending a hill, and the truck swerved across the center line, left the road on the opposite side and struck a ditch embankment. The load of logs rolled over the cab of the truck, crushing Murry, officials said. A ruptured gas tank caused the truck to catch fire, but Murry was not seriously burned, police said. Funeral services for Mr. Murry were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, December 19, at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Williana, with the Rev. Delton Sharbono officiating. Burial was in Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Williana under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Among Mr. Murry's survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Ann Murray; three sons, Derrel, Shannon, and Brent Murry and two daughters, Kimberley and Angela, all of Joyce; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Denver Murry of Dry Prong; six brothers, L. E. Murry of Houston, Tex.; W. D. Murry of Irving, Tex.; Wayne Murry of Dale, Tex.; Charles Murry and Clayton Murry, both of Minden; and Jimmy Murry of Sibley; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Chelette of Colfax and Mrs. Quincy Carter of Dry Prong, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Vera Slayter of Joyce. Pallbearers were Wayne Culpepper, Billy Strickland, Darrell Ingles, Jerry Crooks, Wayne Davis, and Jimmy Strickland.
