C. Murphey, Shreveport dentist, was killed instantly and her husband was painfully injured when their car collided with a freight train two miles west of Hot Springs, Ark., Friday of last week. Mrs. Murphey was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus McGinty, Sr., prominent residents of Winnfield for many years where Mr. McGinty served as Clerk of Court and Deputy Clerk. She was born and reared here and she and Dr. Murphey made their home in Winnfield for some time after their marriage. They had been residents of Shreveport for the past 35 years, where she was an active member of the Woman's Department of the First Presbyterian Club, and was formerly active in music circles. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. W. S. Evans, a son, Dr. R. C. Murphey, Jr., of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas H. Fortner, Shreveport; Mrs. A. C. Campbell, Greenwood, and Mrs. Norman C. Woody, Corpus Christi, Tex.; a brother, Cyrus McGinty, Jr., Houston, Texas; and a number of grandchildren. Last rites were conducted Sunday in Shreveport with burial in Forest Park Cemetery.
